Fascial Stretch Therapy

FST is a pain free one-on-one stretch session performed on a treatment table. Your stretch provider will ask questions and assess your body based on any concerns or questions you may have. As you lay on the table, your provider may move your arms, legs and torso to achieve optimal and specific stretching of your fascial line. Comfortable straps maybe used to stabilize one lower limb.

FST Benefits

Lengthen muscles and loosen tension in the body, improve range of motion, improve physical performance, help you feel and move better in sport and life.

Does FST Hurt?

During a session you should feel “stretch awareness” and NO pain! Pain tells the brain that something is wrong and signals and prevents your body from letting go & relaxing. It’s crucial to communicate with your provider if there’s any strain or pain.

FST is based on scientific research

The first research into the effects of FST™ commenced in 1997 with founder Ann Frederick’s thesis, found at www.stretchtowin.com. Current research on the effects of FST™ on chronic low back pain is being conducted with a team at the University of Arizona Medical School in Phoenix. FST™ is also based on the extensive science resources found at www.fasciaresearchsociety.org.

How will I feel after a session?

After a session, you may feel “looser”, more relaxed and able to move freely without pain. It is normal to experience soreness 24-72 hours afterwards, similar to a workout. It’s recommended that you drink water as a session works the deep level of fascia, the body is prone to increased dehydration.

What should I wear to a session

Athletic type clothing that you can move in, ideally stretchy wear such as leggings, shorts, t-shirt or tank tops. Please no short-shorts.

How many sessions will I need?

Sessions are currently available in 30, 60, or 90-minute increments. The recommended frequency of appointments will depend on many factors and is specific to your personal needs, examples are:

Maintenance Plan

For someone who doesn’t have any body issues, a monthly or bi-monthly FST session is recommended to eliminate any adhesions that occur due to every day functional patterns such as driving, work, sleep, walking, daily activity, etc.

Mobility Makeover

For someone with poor mobility and multiple restrictions, a commitment to 10 regular stretch sessions over 3 months would be most effective. For example, 2 FST sessions per week for 2 weeks, then 1 FST session weekly for 4 weeks, and then once every two weeks.
