Solar Panels at SVAC

Experience sun powered fitness at Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club, Canada’s only locally owned solar powered gym! At SVAC, we believe in the importance of not only nourishing our bodies and minds but also caring for our planet and the community. As a locally owned gym, we take our influence within the community very seriously. We are continually striving to improve our gym for both our members and the community of St. Albert which includes reducing our impact on the environment.

COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY

As Canada’s only locally owned solar-powered gym, we’re proud to harness the power of the sun to fuel your fitness journey. Our journey towards sustainability and environmental responsibility is highlighted by a remarkable initiative that we embarked on this past year: the installation of a large array of solar panels on our rooftop. This isn’t just any installation; it’s the lifeblood of our commitment to powering our activities entirely through renewable energy. From invigorating fitness classes and serene hot yoga sessions to the buzzing energy of our cardio equipment and the general power needs of our facility, these panels ensure that every sweat dropped and calorie burned within our walls is backed by the power of the sun.

CELEBRATING EARTH DAY

As Earth Day approaches on April 22, it’s a momentous occasion for us at Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club, to reflect on the strides we’ve made towards a greener planet.

In a world increasingly cognizant of environmental impacts, our gym has proudly taken significant steps to not just reduce our carbon footprint but also to inspire others to follow suit. We are proud to call ourselves the first locally-owned solar powered gym in Canada!

In embracing renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint, we’ve taken a stand not just for our health but for the health of our planet. This Earth Day, we invite our community and fellow businesses to join us in reflecting on our impact on the environment and to take steps, no matter how small, towards a more sustainable future.

    OUR GYM’S GREEN COMMITMENT

This initiative is very important to our SVAC team. We are committed to the St. Albert community and sustainability. To date, the energy generated by our solar panels has led to a CO2 reduction equivalent to over 95 tonnes. To put that into perspective, this achievement mirrors the environmental benefit of saving over 125 acres of forest. This milestone is not just a testament to our dedicated team but also a beacon of what is possible when communities and businesses unite for the greater good of our planet.

Our commitment goes beyond the tangible. It’s about fostering a culture that values sustainability and encourages others to take actionable steps towards a greener future. Every member who walks through our doors is not just a part of our gym; they’re part of a larger movement towards environmental stewardship. Through educational initiatives and community outreach, we aim to spread the message that every effort counts and collective action is powerful.

We understand that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. As we celebrate our achievements this Earth Day, we also look forward to the road ahead. Our plans include further reducing our environmental impact through additional green initiatives and partnerships with local organizations that share our vision. We’re committed to not just being a place where people come to improve their physical health but also a hub for fostering environmental awareness and action.
