Here are our 10 tips to help you avoid the dreaded plateau or burnout in your fitness journey:
Variety in Workouts: Add some variety into your workout split to help keep your routine engaging. Alternate between cardio, strength training, yoga, or outdoor activities to prevent monotony. SVAC offers over 200 weekly fitness classes. Whether you’re seeking heart-pounding workouts, hot yoga sessions, or dynamic classes like spin, high fitness and pilates, there is something for everyone at SVAC.
Rest and Recovery: Rest between workouts is crucial! Allow your body time to recover and repair. Overtraining can lead to burnout and injury. Check out our massage chairs and infrared sauna in the changeroom to help boost your recovery after a hard workout.
Set Realistic Goals: Avoid setting overly ambitious goals that might overwhelm you. Start with achievable milestones, then progress gradually. - Stick Mobility: SVAC is proud to have Canada’s only Level 2 Stick Mobility Leader, Clare Newman. Stick Mobility seamlessly blends joint mobilization, strength enhancement, and profound fascial stretching, to increase athletic performance, reduce the risk of injury, and speed recovery.
- Tuesdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays 10:45am
- Fascial Maneuvers: Fascia, the thin connective tissue encasing organs, muscles, and more, also harbors emotions and accumulated trauma. Fascial maneuvers aid in releasing these stored emotions and trauma, fostering holistic healing and restoring balance in the body.
- Thursdays at 7:45pm
- Sound Healing and Meditation: During this short sound healing session participants will lie down in a supportive position allowing the sound waves of the singing bowls to penetrate and interact with their bodies. The experience is often described as deeply meditative, helping calm the mind, release tensions, and promote a sense of inner peace.
- Mondays and Thursdays 10:45 – 11:45 am
Support System: Engage with the supportive SVAC fitness community or a workout buddy for motivation, accountability, and encouragement.
Balanced Nutrition: Proper nutrition is crucial for sustained energy and recovery. Ensure you’re consuming a balanced diet that complements your fitness routine. You need fuel and hydration to workout.
