MAT PILATES AT SVAC
What is mat pilates? Mat Pilates is a low-impact fitness class that uses gravity and body weight to build deep core strength, improve posture, and enhance body awareness. We are happy to offer 3 varieties of Mat Pilates here at SVAC:
- Mat Pilates
- Warm Mat Pilates
- Hot Mat Pilates
What to expect: Mat Pilates classes take place in both our Mind Body studio as well as in our Elevate studio. You can find Mat Pilates classes easily on our class schedule by either filtering by studio location or by class type. We have both a 1 hour class as well as a 45 minute class.
Throughout the class, our certified instructors will guide you through proper breathwork to maximize muscle engagement and mindful practice in addition to offering modifications,and progressions making each class accessible for all fitness levels.
What to bring to class: We suggest bringing a yoga mat, a towel, a water bottle and wear comfortable, fitted clothing. You can go bare foot or wear grip socks.

Reformer vs. Mat: Which one is right for you? Both give you that amazing Pilates burn, but they offer different challenges!
Mat Pilates uses your own body weight and gravity to build deep core strength and stability. Reformer Pilates uses springs and resistance to lengthen, strengthen, and support or challenge your movements in unique ways.
